BIO: Brett began riding motorcycles and quads at the age of eight and nobody has been able to slow him down since. At nineteen, Brett joined the world of desert racing to win his first race in the Western Motorsports class 1600 car at the 2007 King of the Desert race in Plaster City, while sharing driving duties with his brother, Sean Backus. In 2010, Brett and Sean teamed up for their first full season in the 7200 truck. Even racing with 200 hp less than their competition, could not keep these dynamic drivers from a second place finish in the championship. The 2011 season will again bring Brett and Sean together in the 7200 truck, but this time without the limitations of reduced horsepower. |

BIO: Sean’s racing career began at the age of fifteen racing motorcycles. The creation of Western Motorsports allowed him to step into desert racing behind the wheel of a 1600 car. At the 2007 King of the Desert race, Sean won his first race in the 1600 while sharing driving duties with his brother, Brett. Once again behind the wheel of the 1600, Sean won the Annual Baja Cup Challenge in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, Sean also completed a full season in 1600 car with many top five finishes. The 2009 season found Sean and Brett Backus teamed up again, but this time in a 7200 truck. In 2010, the Backus brothers completed their first full season in the 7200. They always finished in the top three and ended the season with a second place finish in the championship, all this with 200 hp less than their competition. Sean will once again be sharing racing duties with Brett in 2011 in the 7200 truck. They will be racing unhindered by reduced horsepower and truly be the team to beat. |
